Review: Tom Ford Lip Color Shine in Ravenous (4)

Remember those days when I would never consider buying a $50 lipstick? What happened to those days? It scares me that now I think it's perfectly fine for a brand to charge this much for a lip product.

The packaging: This comes in its own box. The tube is the same as all other Tom Ford lipsticks except that the Lip Color Shines are leaner and taller than the lipsticks. I actually like the shape and height of these better since they fit better in small purses.

The scent: The same vanilla scent as TF's other lip products. It's a bit heavy, but doesn't linger.

The product: Ravenous (4) is a bright, sheer hot pink. It goes on smoothly, but is very sheer. It lasted about 2-3 hours on me, which is typically for bright, sheer shades. It was lightly hydrating. For those of you who want to try a bright lip color, but don't think you can pull off an intense, opaque look, this is definitely a good place to start!

Cost: $50, of course.

Review: Tom Ford Lip Color in Indian Rose (04)

I bought my first Tom Ford lipstick last year some time when I was in search of a darker-toned lipstick. I found Bruised Plum and fell in love with both the color and the lipstick formula, but also found myself reeling after spending $49 on a lipstick. Well, they say time heals all wounds...and now I find that I have apparently no qualms when it comes to shelling out $49 for a lipstick. My bank account hates me.

The packaging: If you're going to pay this much for a lipstick, you know the packaging better be awesome...and it is! The tube is rectangular with nice, sharp angles and lines. The gold and dark maroon colors definitely add to the lux feel of this lipstick, and it feels nice and dense in my hand. 

The scent: There is a powdery cotton candy-like scent, but it doesn't linger on lips.

The product: Indian Rose is a pink-rose shade with a little bit of shine to it. It's a great every day shade as it will work for both day and night. This formula is amazing - it glides on smoothly (no tugging!) and is pretty hydrating. One swipe let me natural lip color peek through a bit, but two swipes gave me opaque coverage. My lips felt very soft the entire time I wore this, and they were not dried out at the end of the day. This shade wore for 5-6 hours on me, and reapplying was very simple.

Review: Tom Ford Bruised Plum Lip Color

Another day, another review! 

The packaging: Tom Ford is all about luxury, and the packaging for this lipstick does not disappoint! This product comes in a black and gold square tube - very heavy, very glamorous. The Tom Ford logo is stamped onto the product itself, so if you don't want to smear it when applying, you'll have to apply from the backside of the lipstick. I loved the packaging, but I had one problem with mine - the cap kept coming off when I had it in my purse. I don't know if I had a faulty cap or if others have experienced this problem as well?

The scent: There was a slight vanilla-like scent, but it was hardly noticeable.

The product: Bruised Plum is a deep red/plum (hence the name) shade with a tiny amount of shimmer noticeable. The shimmer isn't noticeable when applied to lips, but you can definitely see it when you hold the product up to light. I definitely had to prep my lips for this product because the first time I applied this without prepping my lips and a lot of flakiness and drying occurred. This product does tend to settle into lip lines and therefore, it doesn't truly provide even coverage. It wasn't as smooth and as easy to apply as Too Faced's La Creme lipsticks, but overall it was easy to glide over lips. Once applied, it stayed on for about 4 hours and definitely left a stain behind. I actually like the stain it leaves behind more so than when I first apply it, so lately I've been wearing this by blotting it on lightly with my fingertips rather than a full application.

Favorites: This is my first taste of Tom Ford Beauty, so we'll have to leave this section blank until I get my hands on another product. 

Cost: This will definitely leave a dent in your account at $49. Would I recommend it? No, there's many dupes out there for this shade. You're really paying for the Tom Ford name - and if that's what you're after then buy it. Otherwise, sit this one out.
